About Me

I am a qualified, BACP-accredited counsellor, working in Bristol and online.

After an early career in hospitality, I began studying for a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Society in 2005 and later completed a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, fully qualifying in 2014.

Since qualifying, I have completed further training in online counselling, allowing me to work effectively via telephone, webcam and email, alongside face-to-face sessions. I also provide supervision, supporting other practitioners in their counselling practice.

Experience

While completing my professional counselling training, I worked as a therapeutic support worker in a therapeutic community supporting adolescent girls from disadvantaged and abusive backgrounds. This role gave me valuable insight into the impact of trauma and other mental health challenges, as well as the importance of safe, consistent relationships, and it led to my first counselling role at The Southmead Project, Bristol.

My experience includes:

  • Private Practice (2016–present) – I now work exclusively in this sector from my Bristol (Clifton) office and online nationwide. Drawing on my experience from The Southmead Project and The Carers Support Centre, I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, addictions, feelings of overwhelm, relationship difficulties, settling into student life, work or study stress, and other life transitions. I also help clients process past events, including trauma and childhood experiences. In addition, I provide clinical supervision for other counsellors, supporting their professional development and helping them navigate challenging client situations.
  • The Carers Support Centre (2019–2022) – Counsellor supporting adults with caring responsibilities. I counselled carers who were supporting their partners, parents, friends, or other family members with a range of conditions, including dementia, cancer, end-of-life care, chronic illnesses, and other health challenges. I also supported parents caring for children with autism, learning disabilities, or other developmental needs.
  • The Southmead Project, Bristol (2011–2019) – Volunteer counsellor from 2011–2015, then employed as a qualified counsellor from 2016–2019, supporting adults affected by abuse, trauma, and addiction. My work included helping people manage symptoms associated with PTSD, supporting those seeking to address addictions, working with the emotional impact of abuse and domestic violence, and assisting people in processing childhood trauma.

My approach is inclusive and client-centred, tailored to meet each person’s individual needs and circumstances.
